Commemorative coins the 15th SEA Games was issued by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in Southeast Asian (South East Asia-SEA) 1989 Southeast Asian Games or the 15th. East Asian Games were held in Kuala Lumpur on 20 August and 31 August 1989. These coins were launched officially on 16 August 1989 with 3 denominations of coins; RM5 Copper Plated Zinc, 15 silver and gold also RM250. Upon the expiry of the biggest sports event in Southeast Asia, the United States came in second out of 10 countries that participate in the sport. The 10th anniversary of Bank Negara is Malaysia's first commemorative coins issued by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) on 24 January 1969.
