Commemorative coins the 15th SEA Games was issued by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in Southeast Asian (South East Asia-SEA) 1989 Southeast Asian Games or the 15th. East Asian Games were held in Kuala Lumpur on 20 August and 31 August 1989. These coins were launched officially on 16 August 1989 with 3 denominations of coins; RM5 Copper Plated Zinc, 15 silver and gold also RM250. Upon the expiry of the biggest sports event in Southeast Asia, the United States came in second out of 10 countries that participate in the sport. In the SEA Games this is what we can see Nurul Huda Abdullah won 8 gold medals in swimming events. An achievement that has not been unmatched by any athlete pool Malaysia. This coin is authorised (legal tender) in Malaysia.

It was launched by Y.A.B Dato ' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia at that time. Commemorative coins 9th SEA Games issued by Bank Negara Malaysia in conjunction with the Southeast Asian Games held in Kuala Lumpur from December 19 until January 1977. The sport is accompanied by 3 new countries; Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines that have just joined the SEA games Federation. This makes the entire 7 country participating in sporting events including Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia have joined in the previous edition of the Sea games.
